The web is already filled with great resources about the game of darts.  There are some great articles on how to play the different games, practice advice, board setup, and everything else you need to know.  Rather than try to repost any of the great information that is already available, here are some links I recommend that you check out.

Dartbase The dartbase is one of the best sites I've come across for beginners to learn about the game.  It covers a great deal of information about the equipment, throw, stance, technique, and strategy.  The articles are easy to read and detailed enough to give you a great overview of just about everything.  It does a great job on breaking down the mechanics of the throw and the various components of the stance/grip/throw.
NiceDarts NiceDarts is another good collection of advice for players trying to improve their game.  There is a good overview of the various games and strategies that you may find useful.  It also has some great ideas for practicing and performance tips.
eHow Article If you prefer instructional videos, Richard Buccola does a great job here in breaking down the basics in some short video presentations.
